New Mexico Society of Medical Assistants
March 2007 Volume 12
The 50th Annual National Convention was held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this past year. It was with great pleasure that I was able to serve the NMSMA as a delegate to the 50th Annual National Convention. The NMSMA was represented at National Convention by myself, Belinda Beeman, CMA and Melanie Anaya, CMA. We attended all reference committees as well as House of Delegates on Sunday. We all stayed very busy attending educational sessions and activities. Each year at Convention, I meet new and exciting people and look forward to bringing back new ideas to help our state.
I look forward to seeing all of you at State Convention this year. It takes everyone to make this society a success. I encourage all of you to become active in this society and help keep it active for future generations of medical assistants.
Sincerely,
Shelly Ervin, CMA, LRT
Sara Alvarado
Natalie Rodriguez
Are you certified in CPR? If not, do you need to be? We will be offering a CPR class for individuals who have not had CPR. This class will be offered through ENMU-Roswell during the month of May. We will also be offering a renewal CPR course during the summer. This will also be offered through AHA instructors for a fee.
Please contact Nancy Moorhead at 624-7357 or Belinda Beeman at 624-7476 for the dates and times.NOMINEES FOR STATE OFFICERS

I would like to thank NMSMA for allowing me to represent them at the AAMA National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was the 50 year celebration for the AAMA. We had a smashing good time. It was interesting to learn how the AAMA works on the national level. I also enjoyed meeting other AAMA members. I would love to see more of our New Mexico members attend the AAMA National Conventions. It is a wonderful learning opportunity and a great way to meet other CMA’s from all over the country. Thank you once again for allowing me to represent you last year. It was an honor.
Belinda Beeman, CMA

Proposed Wording:
A quorum of the annual meeting of NMSMA shall be eligible members present.
Rationale: Members who are interested in the business of the association will attend the meetings and vote. Those that are not interested will not attend or vote on any decisions. In the past it has been difficult to get a quorum (percentage of membership) together to handle the decisions of the state society. This is the third time we have had to reduce the quorum. (1/3, 1/5, 1/6)
ARTICLE XI Section 3 - Eligibility
